Welcome to Kate’s Cakes & Catering! This site started out as a way for me to keep track of what I’m baking, and now includes menus and event information for parties I throw.
I was born & raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. My mom’s side of the family is Italian so food was always a big part of our family, but it wasn’t until high school that I really fell in love with all things baking. It all started out with making Ice Cream Cakes for family & friends birthday parties. Over the years, I have gone through many different phases including cookies on a stick, cupcakes, layer cakes, & french macarons. Other than a Wilton decorating course and a baking class at ICE in NYC, I am completely self taught. I went to school for Chemical Engineering, but luckily was able to merge my love of food and my knack for science and math by getting a job at a major food company (you can probably guess which one based on a recurrence of a certain brand of products 😉 ) Hopefully one day, I can turn my passion into a full time career, but in the meantime, I’ll continue to bake and throw parties for family & friends!
