Last weekend my mom, sister, & I threw a bridal shower for my brother’s finance. We went with a beach theme and our color scheme was blue with yellow accents. A bought a case of Planter’s walnuts through work a few weeks ago and so my mom suggested that I try and make candied walnuts to use on our cheese platters. I tried two different recipes.
The first used white sugar plus cinnamon. The second and my parents favorite used brown sugar and cayenne pepper. The cayenne gave it a nice kick and broke up the sweetness of the caramelized brown sugar. I packaged them in glass bottles I had saved.
- Antipasto and Cheese platters are an sophisticated and delicious yet easy way to start off a delicious meal or be the center piece of a cocktail party.Below is a picture antipasta & cheese platter I made for a Black & White themed sit down dinner last year.
The cheese portion of the platter includes brie and a sharp white cheddar with fig preserves and honey for dipping. The antipasto portion has kalamata olives, marinated artichoke hearts, peperoncinis, stuffed hot peppers, roasted red peppers, and bruschetta skewers. Its all served with a french baguette.
An added bonus to antipasto trays is that most of the marinated options will keep in your refrigerator for a long time. That way you can buy in bulk and always have some on hand.
