Ringing in 2015!

Event Details

Instead of worrying about what bar to go to and whether or not it was worth it to pay $100 for open bar & food, my roommate & I decided to host a New Year’s Eve Party this year. Since both of us had to work on New Year’s Eve, we decided to keep the menu simple, but elegant. Also to keep costs down, when people asked what they could bring we told them to bring sparkling wine which we used as a part of our signature drink! Overall, it was a great evening with good food & even better friends!

Christmas Eve 2014 Dinner

Event Details

Every year my parent’s host a Christmas Eve dinner. It started out as a dinner with some of our neighbors who we kept running into at the local Chinese restaurant after Christmas Eve Mass, but recently we’ve changed it up a bit and invite over my brother’s in-laws. We try to mix up the menu each year, but it always needs to be something that can either stay in the oven or slow cooker while we’re at church.  Continue reading

Olympic Opening Ceremonies Party

Event Details

This year I decided that it would be a lot of fun to have a party for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics in London. After a lot of thought I decided on cooking mostly British inspired dishes and desserts. In addition to watching the games, I decided we would use commercial breaks to have a mini Olympics of our own.

Christmas Pudding Shots

Last spring I heard about pudding shots for the first time. I was intrigued and needless to say I found an occasion to make them. They were a huge hit with all of my friends and since then I’ve made them for most of the parties I’ve attended. For my friends Ugly Christmas Sweater Party I made red (strawberry), green (mint Oreo), and white (vanilla) pudding shots. They are made using pudding mix, milk, vodka and/or liquors, and cool whip. They are then frozen until solid in 2 oz cups. Even though you keep the shots frozen they maintain the consistency of soft serve ice cream. You can find the cups at a restaurant supply store and some Walmarts. Be sure to experiment with a variety of flavors, but be careful to keep the overall percentage the alcohol the same or they won’t freeze correctly.
